The talented cast of We Love a Piano

Music, dancing, and plenty of laughs were had last night at the opening of The Schoolhouse Theater’s first show of the season We Love a Piano. From the start of this Irving Berlin musical revue the audience loved it! With Victor Legarreta, also artistic director of the theater, playing host of the show the audience quickly forgot the troubles of today and got lost in the music of yesteryear.

Highlight songs included James Lane and Rachel Miller singing the fast paced and very funny Old Fashioned Wedding, Chloe Sabin singing the romantic standout They Say It’s Wonderful, Bobby Logue in the toe tapping Let Me Sing and I’m Happy, and Victor Legarreta in the classic How Deep is the Ocean.
After the performance, the cast and friends headed to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Cassell’s lovely home in The Sanctuary for a perfect opening night party. The music didn’t stop there as Justin Cowan, the new musical director at The Schoolhouse Theater, happily played some classic show tunes as the cast, along with Madison Mitchell, the theater’s marketing director, and Kelly Parker-Legarreta, wife to Victor Legarreta and animal behaviorist, sang along. It was the ideal finale to a wonderful opening.
We Love a Piano plays through Nov. 8th with performances at 8pm. Call the Box Office at (239)472-6862 for tickets and more information. The Schoolhouse Theater is located at 2200 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.
