New Hot spot: Cip’s helps out OPERATION RAIN BARREL Sanibel Island

The SW Florida Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Foundation, Inc.,   Sanibel-Captiva Chapter is planning a fundraising project — Operation Rain Barrel.  This project, which involves the silent auction of rain barrels painted by local artists, has a goal of raising  $25,000 to buy equipment and supplies needed to sustain and expand the activities of the Southwest Florida MRC.

The MRC Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, which supports volunteer medical professionals and interested citizens who donate their time and expertise to respond to our community in times of disasters and health crises. Throughout the year, volunteers provide education, prevention and screening programs to the community and clinical services to the needy.

These artistically painted rain barrels will be on display and available for silent bidding and donations from Feb. 18th- Mar. 4th, 2011 at various locations on Sanibel and Captiva. A final exhibit of all the rain barrels and the final bidding will take place on March 5that Cip’s located at 2055 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel Island Fl. 239-472-0223

The rain barrels are not only functional and help conserve water for the island, but each one is a unique, signed and named piece of art. The following local artists have generously donated their time and effort to make this truly a spectacular event: CC Caldwell, Alida Cooper, Jesse Cooper, Mary Ann Czarnicki, Mary Ann Devos, Randon Eddy, Jane Hudson, Laura Meyer, Thom Millsap, Sue Ross, Jan Rozeboom, Casandra Soobitsky, Dorothy Wallace and featured Youth artists, Haley Capobianco and Sanibel Middle School.
