JOE STEAMER CAPTURES
SANIBEL 8-BALL POOL LEAGUE
Joe Steamer, a member of the League Champion Bathroom Magic team, won six matches
without a loss to take first place honors in the League’s annual year-end single game
double elimination 8-ball tournament. Twenty-eight shooters competed for six straight
hours on the two tables at American Legion Post 123 on Monday, March 19.
Richard Ennis took second place honors with Bob Buntrock coming in third. Both
players are members of the League’s second place Bunt’s Ball Busters team. Kevin
Pottorf from the Sandycappers was fourth. John Earle from Sanibel Café and Larry
Hancock from the Fresh Legion Crew tied for fifth and sixth. Pete Mindel from Sanibel
Café and Doc Lubinski from the Odd Balls tied for seventh and eighth.
Two women players competed in the tournament. Both Pattee Frank from the Fresh
Legion Crew and Peggy Patterson from Chalk & Awe won games in the single game
double elimination format.
The League’s Awards Banquet is set for Monday, March 26, 6 p.m. at George &
Wendy’s. Team and individual cash prizes will be awarded and a three-ball ball
tournament will be run by Sanibel Café’s Rich McCurry for interested shooters.
On Monday, March 27, the Sanibel League again plays its annual match against the
North Ft. Myers Senior 8-Ball League. That match starts at 7 p.m. in the four table
billiard room at Del Tura Country Club North Ft. Myers leads in the series 3-1. Submitted by Bob Buntrock. Click below to see more pictures
