Calling All Anglers, Get Ready for some Fishing, The First Annual Chix-N-Stix Ladies Fishing Tournament. The first event of this caliber for ladies in the fishing industry! Chix-N-Stix is taking over Southwest Florida on December 4th and 5th, 2009 on Fort Myers Beach, FL. With the cash and prize payout reaching over $5,000 and an entry fee of $100 for the ladies and $50 for the men there is no excuse not to come out and be a part of this huge event! The species of fish (ladyfish) has been kept fun to keep the pressure low; and there will be a couple of mystery fish categories, a youth division and a winner for the largest ladyfish.

The Search for the Skunk Ape a.k.a Big Foot, continues. We at the Sanibel Captiva Daily, talked with business owner and amateur cryptozoologist, Brian Podlasek about his history of field investigations of this mystical creature. Brian has been looking for big foot in Montana and all around the globe. He believes, as the cold weather approaches, the bigfoot will begin it’s migration south to the warm weather of Sanibel and Captiva. It’s speculated that Sanibel and Captiva are the breading grounds for these creatures. According to his research, the bigfoot should be on it’s long travel down south. Sanibel Bigfoot

Ancient stories mention the legionary Bigfoot has been sighted over the centuries on Sanibel Island. Recently, business owner and amateur cryptozoologist, Brian Podlasek has been conducting his own research expeditions on Sanibel Island. After spending over 1,000 hours of field investigations, Brian hit the break he was looking for… an actual sighting of the mystical creature. In a panic, he was able to snap a quick picture before the Skunk Ape started showing signs of aggregation and attacked Brian. Luckily he was able to escape before he endured any physical harm.  Here is the picture he took.

Sunny Day on a Captiva Cruise from McCarthy’s Marina

 We spent yesterday on a Captiva Cruise from McCarthy’s Marina. We took the Dolphin and Wildlife Cruise on Lady Chadwick, it was a perfect outdoor activity on a sunny day off of Captiva Island. We saw tons of Dolphins surfing the wake of our Captiva Cruise on Lady Chadwick. So next time you are looking for an outdoor activity, check out McCarthy’s Marina for a great time! Royal Shell, Sanibel Vacation Rentals, Caloosa Catch & Release Tournament

June 4th – 7th, 2009 our Royal Shell, Saltwater Fishing Team once again participated in the Caloosa Catch & Release Tournament.  We are pleased to announce Royal Shell Vacation Rentals, received 3rd place out of 68 boats.  This was the Twentieth Anniversary of the Tournament which was established in 1989.  The Caloosa Catch and Release provides the finest tournament experience to everyone with the continuing focus on fishing, fun, families and fundraising.  This year, the Caloosa Catch and Release was televised in HD on the World Fishing Network.   The primary recipient of net proceeds from the Tournament Series will be Florida Gulf Coast University Vester Marine and Environmental Science Field Station as well as several other organizations including CCA and the Lee County Boys and Girls Club.

 ”Hello Sanibel-Captiva Daily. This is Linda Gulde, I wrote to you earlier last month. We are here now and having a blast. I took this pic from the observation tower in Sanibel Bayous where we are staying. I can’t believe how close to nature we are! We did the air boat tours at Speedy Johnson’s today and this evening Ron is taking me out for a fish dinner. Love your beaches and the clean island! Sunny Sanibel Florida Alligator. It was a sad day for Daily.com’s photographer, Max Soto. We were on a photo shoot a little while ago, on sunny Sanibel and to his delight, he saw a 5 foot Sunny Sanibel Florida Alligator resting on the bank. Max explained his 9 year dream of wrestling a wild Florida Alligator when he moved down from the Midwest. As Max was about to courageously jump on top of the Sunny Sanibel Florida Alligator, a nosy authority figure warned him that he could get in serious trouble with the law for messing with the Sunny Sanibel Florida Alligator. As his dreams were crushed, Max grabbed his camera to record it on video, instead of making himself a new gator skinned wallet. Just kidding………..
