Update on the Deep Horizon Florida Oil Spill. What is happening to Sanibel & Captiva because of the BP Oil Spill? Our Beaches are still Beautiful and our water is Clean! Great time for a Island Vacation!Yesterday, we talked to Lee County Florida District 4 Commissioner, Tammy Hall. We were extremely happy to hear what she had to say! Although the Deep Horizon Florida Oil Spill has harmed a lot of things, Sanibel and Captiva are still SAFE! We learned that our water is clean and our beaches are still beautiful and this is actually a great time to visit Sanibel & Captiva. Check out our backyard and enjoy a wonderful Island Vacation! Tamara Pigott, Executive Director of the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau also talked to us on camera to express what a great time it is to take a vacation in our unspoiled waters of SWFL. Sanibel & Captiva BP Oil Spill Update, Clean Beaches, Shells and FishWe have been covering the BP Oil Spill and its effect on Sanibel & Captiva. This is the second video we have done, we went around Sanibel and Captiva to ask some business owners what they have been seeing. The Beaches are clean, the shells are out and the fish are biting. Benefit For Capt. Jerry Way at Tween WatersMany people know Captain Jerry Way, he is the oldest working Captain on Sanibel and Captiva Island! Recently, Jerry was diagnosed with advanced Lung Cancer. On Saturday, September 26 at Tween Waters Inn, there will be a benefit for Captain Jerry from 6pm till 9pm. Everyone is going to be there, the money raised will help for the expensive cost of medical bills. Live music and good food will be part of this benefit, so mark it down in your calender. We are pleased to announce Royal Shell Vacation Rentals, received 3rd place out of 68 boats. This was the Twentieth Anniversary of the Tournament which was established in 1989. The Caloosa Catch and Release provides the finest tournament experience to everyone with the continuing focus on fishing, fun, families and fundraising. Fishing on Sanibel Island Johnny Durand caught this 32 inch Snook off West Gulf Beach in the troff. He used light tackle with a 30 lb leader and a 2/0 circle hook on cut bait. Caught and Released.
