We were asked to leave via owner : I was with Des, my new photographer and ad rep whom just finished her last chemo treatment wanting to work. This is what she got………

Well, we put our entire weekend aside for this as you all know charities are near and dear to me personally, that is why we are doing this blog!!!! We got screwed!  13 weeks of promotion, seen in 400 countries, 368 Social media and not to mention the RSS fees that  picked up because we are so super powerful. And wait, more………We donated an ad on my sites for the auction………..and brought my new Photographer Des, who wants to work and not feed the system. It is all about Charity Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge.Owners Mark Mandela and  Marty Harrity of Doc Fords told us to leave……….we got some pictures. (photo credit Des and anyone that could take one? lol..nice job Doc Fords)  Great job Harrity… are you kidding us?? Please phony, politician…..City council……..get your game on……..we have never done a negative post……..this was below the belt on their part……….here is all we got……..sorry all……….complain to Mr. Marty on the City Council (lol, what a joke!) You sure liked our camera’s when you where up for election 2009………..Remember? we do. We have all the pics and emails from you and your cronies……….BRING IT!

Birgie Vertecsch Welcomed us with a hug and our press passes. Gm comes out and states”We need to leave and now”  Well, mighty kind………..Capt’s, clients, sponsors and even any of the staff was astonished. So many wanted their picture taken with logo (obviously). So we are so sorry to say this is all we got……Emails, Text messages and phone calls came pouring in…………..like Crazy. We have done tons of fundraisers………..this was way out of line. Birgie was…… a great friend of mine……..no longer…texting us late apologizing, saying out of her control……um can you say BS? …..FAILED!  and to put the anglers in the the lightening with crazy bad weather. Of  Course after they all paid a hefty fee to support or what they though would be supportive no one cared about the safety.  And behind her was out right WRONG!  MARTY HARRITY AND BIRGIE VERTESCH  KNOW BETTER………..they put people in harms way. Dangerous. Tons of emails, texts and phone calls came pouring into me………outraged.

IF YOU DID NOT HEAR IT IT YET, THANK YOU ALL THAT SUPPORTED……….YOUR HEARTS ARE CORRECT……NOT SURE ABOUT THE EVENT…BUT LIKE YOU , WE TOO TRIED TO THE RIGHT THING……LUV LUV Sandy Kostick!!!!!

We are so honored to have spent a great day with  LEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE K-9 UNIT,FORT MYERS, FLORIDA TRAINING CENTER

 Thanks to Sheriff Mike Scott, Lieutenant Larry King and Head K-9 Trainer Sgt. Frank Glover and all the staff of LEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE K-9 UNIT

Meeting with the team of Sergeants and Deputies, we learned a lot of what they do to teach, train and keep these amazing dogs in great condition in many ways.

First Sgt. Glover, trainer finds them and runs them through a serious of tests to see if they are capable to handle the job at task. And it is a big one.

The dogs, save lives, find drugs and sometimes sadly get hurt in the line of duty, as they are many times the first to go in…….However, the dogs appear to be sweet, kind and loving not to mention beautiful. And they are, but…………beware! They know when it’s working time and they don’t mess around at all. Trust us; we got a taste of them. Strong and Smart!

The dogs at  LEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE K-9 UNIT,FORT MYERS, FLORIDA TRAINING CENTER range from 2 years old in training to 12 years depending on the ability level and health. Speaking of health, these dogs are taken very good care of. With a special diet and vet to check them frequently. With a ton of love. 

They are very in shape. They really seem to love their job and it almost looks like they are having fun at training, but they are really working. They enjoy it.

 “They basically play a game of hide and seek; the dogs are very valuable to us as we use them to locate all kinds of things. Humans, narcotics etc.. Our dogs are partners and as they saying goes…..a little bit different: Sheriffs best friend” States Sgt. Frank Glover.

What we found so interesting is these dogs go home with these men and women who then are family dogs. Just like most of us have. When the special collar comes out and they get in the work vehicles they know, it’s work time. Really amazing.

I hope these pictures can give you an idea of just how hard they all work and why. To be able to cover this was a wonderful experience and one we will not ever forget. Kevin even took one for the team and tried on one of the tools they use called the bite bar sleeve.

They also have a full bite suit. A bit much for us, we thought, let’s allow the pros to handle that……..lol. I hope you enjoy this as much as we did and please respect your animals.

Capt. Team DYS: A winning catch from last year’s inaugural tournament. Registration opens for ‘Ding’ Darling & Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament Registration has opened for the second annual “Ding” Darling & Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament, which takes place on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille on Fort Myers Beach to benefit the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island. Registration for the tournament, which debuted last year to rave reviews, is now open at www.dingdarlingtarpontourney.org. Entry fees are $500 per boat of up to four. One hundred percent of the purse will be awarded as tournament prizes. Participation is limited to 50 boats. New this year: The Silver King for “Ding” After-Party will be open to the public with limited tickets available at $50 for each non-fisherman, including dinner and a silent auction. Same as last year, the Captains Dinner will take place on Friday, May 4, at Doc Ford’s. Fishing will begin at 7 a.m. the next morning, once again with DNA testing and competition for the most fish caught and released. Again this year, award-winning Doc Ford murder-mystery series novelist Randy Wayne White will be participating in the tournament. “Last year’s tournament was a day of great action and getting together with a lot of local fishermen I haven’t seen in a while,” said White, a former area fishing guide. “I’m really looking forward to doing it again this year.” Doc Ford’s, with locations on both Sanibel Island and Fort Myers Beach, has again committed to being the title sponsor for the 2013 tournament, along with the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge (DDWS).
