Artist James Leese has spent 40 years practicing architecture and urban design, which has lead to this point in his life. James says he enjoys finding pleasure in capturing “my mind’s impressions of our physical environment, imaginary or not”. James’ work is a combination of technologies. He uses digital graphics from several programs enhanced by photographic imagery. Sometimes James will find a scene in a novel that creates a picture in his mind that he will then create. Lily & Co. hosted a fundraiser with proceeds going to the Cultural Heritage Center of the Islands. So much to see and purchase, from artwork to jewels, there was something for every taste. The event raised approximently $15,000. Some of the artists included Dayrll Portoff, Luc Century, and Myra Roberts to mention a few. A big Thank you from co-owners Karen Bell and Dan Schuyler to everyone who gave donations, and all who supported the fundraiser. A special thanks goes out to auctioneer Jean Baer for doing such a great job, Richard Johnson from Bailey’s for the wonderful catering, Yvonne Hill the Culture Center coordinator, and the Gavin/Walker family. From the start of this Irving Berlin musical revue the audience loved it! At Big Arts there are many classes offered and today I took some time to sit in on the first class for making fused glass taught by Petra Kaiser. The possibilities are endless when working with glass. There are thousands of colors and shapes available so the only limit is ones imagination.
